Founded in 1981, Small Set Cooperative Nursery School is a not-for-profit licensed preschool offering half day childcare in Midland, Ontario. Parents take an active role in creating a nurturing community optimal for learning. Our program is run by caregivers who engage children in play-based learning with curiosity, empathy and respect. Activities and experiences are developmentally-appropriate and support children’s physical, cognitive, social and emotional learning. We operate out of our bright and spacious classroom in St. Paul’s Church in the heart of downtown Midland.

A co-operative preschool is a not-for-profit organization run by its members, with parents playing an active role in the program. Families contribute around 10 volunteer hours per year, helping with tasks like organizing outings, cleaning, fundraisers, and more. Parents can also assist in the classroom, working closely with our qualified educators. It’s a great way to connect with the community and be part of your child’s learning journey.
I have been a Small Set parent for the past 5 years and it has been a wonderful way to meet new friends and see my children thrive and grow. I was also a Small Set Child in the early years of the cooperative in the 80s. When you join the cooperative, you join a 40 plus year history of families in Midland working together to create valuable and memorable early childhood experiences."
"Ben's time was beyond good. The Staff were incredible and made his experience fantastic. I was worried in September how he would transition in to a program as he’s never received formal childcare in any setting. He wakes every morning asking if he can go to his school. He’s excited to tell us about his day and his friends. To me and my husband that is more then we could have hoped for. My only regret was not finding Small Set earlier!"
